About
Breakthrough builds a 12-year path to college, starting in middle school, for low-income students who will be first-generation college graduates. Our program combines individualized, long-term case management with extended learning time to students statistics say will not enroll in or graduate from college without significant support. Since its founding in Austin in 2001, Breakthrough has provided highly personalized and comprehensive support, academic preparation, a college-going culture, and the information and advocacy families need to negotiate the many and complex steps needed for students to be college-ready, gain college admission, and secure financial aid. In 2014, Breakthrough serves more than 900 students in 6th grade through college.
